Aachen's highest point with far-reaching views
The Lousberg rises 264 metres above sea level and offers one of the finest panoramic views over Aachen and its surroundings. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Eifel, across the Aachen basin and even to Belgium and the Netherlands. The Lousberg is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike – and is reachable from Parkhotel Hammerberg in just 14 kilometres.
History and nature combined
The Lousberg has a fascinating history: flint was already mined here in the Stone Age. Today, the hill is a well-maintained urban park with mature trees, expansive lawns and well-developed walking paths. The revolving observation platform offers a unique 360-degree panorama. In summer, regular events, flea markets and concerts take place here.

Cuisine and culture
At the summit of the Lousberg there is a café-restaurant with a terrace and panoramic views – the perfect spot for a coffee break or lunch with a view. The Lousberg is also the starting point for walks through the adjacent city forest and to the nearby Kennedy Park. Art lovers appreciate the changing sculpture exhibitions in the park.
The perfect half-day excursion
Combine a visit to the Lousberg with a city tour of Aachen – the cathedral and old town are just a few minutes' walk away. From Parkhotel Hammerberg, you can drive comfortably to the Lousberg in 20 minutes and combine the excursion with a visit to the Carolus Thermen or the Aachen old town.
