Advent in Aachen
The Aachen Christmas Market transforms the historic old town around the cathedral and town hall into a winter wonderland every year. With over 100 lovingly decorated stalls, the scent of fresh Printen biscuits and mulled wine, and atmospheric lighting, it ranks among the most beautiful and popular Christmas markets in Europe. Around 1.5 million visitors flock to the Aachen old town each year.
Aachen Printen and regional delicacies
Aachen is world-famous for its Printen – the traditional spiced biscuit available only here in the original recipe. At the Christmas market, you will find numerous stalls with fresh Printen in all varieties: herb Printen, chocolate Printen and nut Printen. There are also further regional specialities such as Reisfladen, Muzen and the typical Aachen mulled wine. The culinary variety makes the market a special treat for the senses.

Highlights and programme
Among the highlights of the Aachen Christmas Market are the life-sized nativity scene at the Katschhof, the decorated Christmas tree in front of the town hall, and the daily trumpet playing from the town hall tower. In the Cathedral Treasury, you can admire the pilgrimage relics. For children, there is a carousel, an ice-skating rink and a visit from Saint Nicholas. At weekends, live music and choirs create a festive atmosphere.
